  • A Lawyer in Long Beach pt 4 : Clash of the Titans
Saturday at the Mundials was the real beginning of the “Clash of the [BJJ] titans.” The junior blue-belts divisions, the purple-belt male and female open divisions, as well as the brown belts and the lighter-weight black belts (my favorite divisions of course) were on the docket. The bullpen, the stands, and the surrounding areas were flooded with BJJ royalt […]
  • A Lawyer in Long Beach pt 3 : Once the Dust Settled
Later in the day we came up with a plan whereby each fighter from Crazy 88 preparing for a fight would be assigned an assistant who had fought the day before, to make sure they had everything they needed. It was an honor to be able to assist, in what little way I could, in a teammates’ preparations. SEVEN (7) Lloyd Irvin competitors became World Champions on […]

UFC 114 was a Mayweather style hyped card. Two of MMAs best light heavyweights finally fighting each other after 15 months of well publicized trash talk. • STRIKEFORCE: Heavy Artillery Review
-Jon Delbrugge- In today’s mainstream MMA we have an oversaturation of the blood splattering, lightning bolt, tribal tattoo designed logo appeal to it. I like how Strikeforce is trying something different they are going for the complete opposite. Saturday night’s Heavy Artillery card had different audiences, different fighters, different TV deals. This morning Master Lloyd, Mike Fowler, Andris, and I trained jiu-jitsu while the other guys did the strength and conditioning workout.  It is almost time for the Brazilian World Championships, and Team Lloyd Irvin is anxious and hungry.  We have been doing tons of sparring, grip fighting, everything LIVE LIVE LIVE!

Last evening we had great training, everyone was pushing hard!! If you are at one of our affiliate schools and want some great training during this last week before the big show, then you need to be here in Camp Springs!  This is it, what YOU and your teammates have trained so hard for, this one shot to win the World Title, so train hard, and train smart!

For now I am off to the 4:30 drilling class!  More updates on this evenings class will be posted later.

DRILLING @ 4:30

During the BJJ drilling session today here at Lloyd Irvin’s Mixed Martial Arts consisted of Mike Fowler, JT Torres, Jim Harbison, DJ Jackson, Andris, JC Cuffee, Kris McCray and myself.

JC and Kris worked on some MMA techniques with Master Lloyd Irvin.  While the rest of worked on our techniques that we will be using at the Worlds!!!

I am so excited, all I want to do is train, drill, train, drill.  My body is beat up and sore from the last couple of practices.  Worlds is on my mind, sitting here at this front desk, I can’t even concentrate, all I am thinking about is competing.  Next up, BJJ Advanced class at 8:30!!!!

Also offered with our 30 Day Free Trial, you will get one of the best workouts and also learn great take downs and techniques in our Wrestling Class here at Lloyd Irvin’s Mixed Martial Arts.  The wrestling class is taught by Jim Kelly, former wrestler and Bjj Purple Belt.

Did you happen to catch the UFC 11, where St. Pierre dominate all 5 rounds over Dan Hardy?  Hardy had absolutely no take down defense, as opposed to someone like BJ Penn who rarely ever gets taken down.  Learning wrestling can help you in many real life situations.  You can avoid being taken down, or if needed, take someone down.

In the beginning of the wrestling class, they start off with some neck exercises, which is one of the things that Jim Kelly specializes in.  After having an accident the should have left him in a wheel chair, but with his specialized neck training routines and exercises, it saved him.  Jim Kelly is still training to this day, and he still continues to do these neck exercises.  To check out these neck exercises, click here!  For more info about our program and how you can get started, call us at 301-449-5425.
