I hope everyone got some rest after that Jiu-Jitsu class last night. Everyone was pushing really hard, and doing a great job as well as keeping the energy and positivity up on the mat. We had several brazilian jiu-jitsu black belts, brown belts, purples, blues, and whites! Strength and Conditioning, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday!! The guys had another hard workout this morning, upper and lower body workout with D’ Angelo. That was the only workout they had today, tomorrow is going to be a long grueling practice. If anyone is wondering what time the bjj training is, it’s from 12pm to 3pm, so don’t be late or you will miss out on some good training. We are almost at the end of week 1 of the Pan Ams Training Camp, and this is really only preparation for the big tournament, Worlds.
Lately people have been commenting on my blog, and I just want to say Thank You to those of you who actually take the time to read it! I hope you enjoy it and enjoy this video as well! I got some great footage from last night’s Jiu-Jitsu class! Everyone was pushing, and they did live rounds, over and over and over!
Don’t forget tomorrow night, LIVE on Versus, the WEC event will be held in Columbus, Ohio. Dominick Cruz will be fighting Brian Bowles for the bantamweight title, it’s starts at 10:00 pm, so don’t miss this MMA fight. Dominick Cruz, originally from Tuson now trains in California at Alliance with Brandon “The Truth” Vera. Mike “The Hulk” Easton is out in Ohio right now with Dominick helping him prepare for his fight.
Woke up this morning had a good breakfast and off to Lloyd Irvin’s Mixed Martial Arts I went. Advanced brazilian jiu-jitsu class started @ 11:30. BJJ Blue belt Sijara Eubanks and I drilled and then Master Lloyd had us doing live rounds. Physically and Mentally preparing us for real situations. Sijara and I will both be doing Pan Ams, and Worlds, and definitely getting on that first place stand.
Second bjj training consisted of more drilling, and I also did a few reps on the resistance bands. I drilled with Dj Jackson, he is also a blue belt, and he recently fought in the Gameness Fighting Championships making his opponent tap due to punches from the mount. Mike Fowler, JT Torres, Jim Harbison, and Frank Camacho drilled for several rounds as well. Drilling is a must, so make sure that you find time in your day to drill, DRILL,DRILL!!
Last but not least, we had the 8:30 Advanced BJJ class. Live grip fighting, live sparring, LIVE LIVE LIVE! Getting ready for the upcoming tournaments. We had a full class, and everyone was training hard, Team Lloyd Irvin!
A while back, I was involved in a push up challenge. I had to record whatever the current news was to verify the date, and record my 40 push ups for 30 days straight. Because I stuck with it and never gave up, I won a trip to Miami, and I get to bring along 1 guest. Although, with the up coming tournaments, I will have to hold off on that trip for now! But I really look forward to doing it in the summer!!! Until tomorrow, I need to get some rest and get ready for Day 2!!
Early this morning, following the earthquake that hit Okinawa, and the tsunami warning was called off. An 8.8 earthquake hit the coast of Chile causing Tsunami warnings for the entire Pacific Basin. As of 10 am, they said 82 people have been killed so far and the death polls are likely to rise. But the earthquake didn’t stop there, it had several of aftershocks, including one of magnitude 6.9. Millions of people were feeling this terrible earthquake that was said to have lasted a good 45.secs -1 min. It has not yet been determined how much damage was actually done to those on the Coast of Chile. And this is not the only earthquake to hit Chile, the last one that hit was sometime in the 60’s and it was the largest earthquake ever recorded.
With the earthquake that hit, it sent tsunami warnings toward Hawaii! Warnings sirens have already gone off in Hawaii and everyone is trying to get to higher grounds. They were told to pack food for 5-7 days. At some grocery stores, managers and employees were almost to the point that they were going to put signs up limiting people from buying all the food. Hopefully nothing major will happen, they have 5 hours to evacuate. Although, they could be hit with some of the biggest waves since 1964.
The last major earthquake that occurred was when a 7.0 earthquake that hit Haiti. Completely wiping out Port-Au-Prince and taking the lives of thousands of people, and millions homeless and with no food. Such a tragedy and a sad thing to watch.
For now I am off to train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and I am keeping a close eye on what’s going on in Hawaii.

Growing up I was always worried that I had to go to college and make my family proud. I got caught up in always making everyone else happy that I was unhappy with my life. Living up to my families expectations wasn’t working out for me. I tried college, and it was enjoyable for a while, but it just wasn’t for me at the time. Shortly after leaving college on a soccer scholarship, I found that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu was the thing for me. I knew it could keep me in shape, and I always wanted to be a competitor. The hardest part of it all is being so far from family, but this IS what I wanted to do and I needed to be happy.
Currently a blue belt and training at Lloyd Irvin’s Mixed Martial arts in Camp Springs Maryland. I have found happiness and I am living the life. Working as an Assistant/Front Desk Manager for Lloyd Irvin, I get to train 24/7 and there is nothing more I could ask for. Competing and traveling the world, meeting new people and making life long friends is my dream come true.
When I first came to visit Lloyd Irvin’s, I was astonished by the World Class Training that I needed to take action. This meant relocating about 8,000 miles across the world from Guam to Maryland. Talk about opposite weather, new people, and a completely different lifestyle. I wanted to stay in shape and become a World Champion, and I am doing everything possible to make that happen. Even when my time is up as far as competing, I can always teach Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I can help and give back to Team Lloyd Irvin, just as it gave to me. Moving to Camp Springs to pursue my dreams is ‘hands down’ one of the best decisions I have ever made.
