Team Lloyd Irvin has been training hard getting ready for the upcoming tournaments! Strength and Conditioning for the guys tomorrow at 11 am. Check out the video below! Also, next weekend we have Brandon Vera fighting in the UFC in Colorado!
Enjoy!
I hope everyone got some rest after that Jiu-Jitsu class last night. Everyone was pushing really hard, and doing a great job as well as keeping the energy and positivity up on the mat. We had several brazilian jiu-jitsu black belts, brown belts, purples, blues, and whites! Strength and Conditioning, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday!! The guys had another hard workout this morning, upper and lower body workout with D’ Angelo. That was the only workout they had today, tomorrow is going to be a long grueling practice. If anyone is wondering what time the bjj training is, it’s from 12pm to 3pm, so don’t be late or you will miss out on some good training. We are almost at the end of week 1 of the Pan Ams Training Camp, and this is really only preparation for the big tournament, Worlds.
Lately people have been commenting on my blog, and I just want to say Thank You to those of you who actually take the time to read it! I hope you enjoy it and enjoy this video as well! I got some great footage from last night’s Jiu-Jitsu class! Everyone was pushing, and they did live rounds, over and over and over!
Don’t forget tomorrow night, LIVE on Versus, the WEC event will be held in Columbus, Ohio. Dominick Cruz will be fighting Brian Bowles for the bantamweight title, it’s starts at 10:00 pm, so don’t miss this MMA fight. Dominick Cruz, originally from Tuson now trains in California at Alliance with Brandon “The Truth” Vera. Mike “The Hulk” Easton is out in Ohio right now with Dominick helping him prepare for his fight.
After Nashville MMA and Team Lloyd Irvin dominated the Gameness Fighting Championships this past weekend in Tennessee, we went 11-2 for the night!

When you train hard, you are going to get the results you want! For now, it’s back to MMA training and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. We got Pan Ams coming up, Brandon “The Truth” Vera fights Jon Jones on March 21, Phil Davis will be fighting in the UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi, and we have Willie Leonard representing us in the BJJ blue belt diviosion in the Abu Dhabi Pro event in April as well. Things are looking good for us here at Team Lloyd Irvin, and it is only getting better.
I’m off for a night of training now!
Is it possible to have too much knowledge for…….?
I personally think that it’s impossible to have too much knowledge for something. We learn new things every day and one should be thankful for that. You can never have enough knowledge for anything, take Mixed Martial Arts for example. There are so many different arts to begin with, Muay Thai Kickboxing, MMA, Judo, BJJ, Sombo….and the list goes on and on. Why don’t we just narrow it down to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Can a person ever know too much?? Are there people that think they know too much? Or maybe they think that they are on a different level than they really are. If you disagree with me, than maybe you are training at the wrong facility. Here at Lloyd Irvin’s Mixed Martial Arts, I learn new things every day.
Well, if you are reading this, pay attention!
You are never too good to learn a new technique or to take a class. Every class that you attend, I can assure you that you will learn something new. In BJJ there are so many angles, submissions, and positions, I could go on and on. And in your lifetime, you will never learn everything. When you have a coach or an instructor who is willing to put time and energy into you, listen and never take it for granted. It’s no good to try and stop your knowledge from moving forward, how will you ever be the best? I have seen people sign up for a program and then act like they are too good to take a class. But when you never want to broaden your knowledge on a specific subject, how do you expect to get better. Keep that in mind because you are simply being ignorant and ignorance is never better than knowledge.
Mike Fowler, Jt “Spider Man” Torres and Jimmy have arrived in Portugal. They are relaxed and focusing for tournament time. Master Lloyd heads out tomorrow to join the guys. Also don’t forget about Phil Davis, he will be making his MMA debut on Feb. 6, 2010! Brandon Vera is also getting ready for his upcoming fight. Like I said before, Team Lloyd Irvin is doing big things this year so don’t miss out!!! If you want to be a part of this team, come and check us out in Camp Springs Maryland. Or for more info, go to www.lloydirvin.com.
Everyone that’s a part of Team Lloyd Irvin, we all have something to bring to the table! As for the males, we have Mike Easton and JT Torres who will be competing in Worlds for the first time as black belts. We have DJ Jackson and Willie Leonard who both haves wrestling back ground and is putting their time in on the mats, trying to become a World Champions. For No Gi Worlds, they closed out the open division and won both their weight classes as well.
Willie and I will be heading to Florida next weekend for the Abu Dhabi trials. Master Lloyd and the other guys will be heading out to European Championships as well. JT has Michael Langhi and Lucas Lepri in it. It will be a division to watch!
We also get ready as Phil Davis prepares to make his MMA debut in the UFC 109 Relentless, on February 6th. Also on the west coast we have Brandon Vera who will be fighting Jon Jones in the UFC on March 21st.
I’m sure there are other students at Team Lloyd Irvin who are going to step it up this coming year and really prepare for battle! There are so many tournaments coming up with the Pan Ams, Worlds, Brasil Nationals, Europeans, that Team Lloyd Irvin are for sure going to let everyone know who we are this year!
