  • A Lawyer in Long Beach pt 4 : Clash of the Titans
Saturday at the Mundials was the real beginning of the “Clash of the [BJJ] titans.” The junior blue-belts divisions, the purple-belt male and female open divisions, as well as the brown belts and the lighter-weight black belts (my favorite divisions of course) were on the docket. The bullpen, the stands, and the surrounding areas were flooded with BJJ royalt […]
  • A Lawyer in Long Beach pt 3 : Once the Dust Settled
Later in the day we came up with a plan whereby each fighter from Crazy 88 preparing for a fight would be assigned an assistant who had fought the day before, to make sure they had everything they needed. It was an honor to be able to assist, in what little way I could, in a teammates’ preparations. SEVEN (7) Lloyd Irvin competitors became World Champions on […]

  • STRIKEFORCE: Heavy Artillery Review
-Jon Delbrugge- In today’s mainstream MMA we have an oversaturation of the blood splattering, lightning bolt, tribal tattoo designed logo appeal to it. I like how Strikeforce is trying something different they are going for the complete opposite. Saturday night’s Heavy Artillery card had different audiences, different fighters, different TV deals. Team Lloyd Irvin absolutely dominated the Gameness Fighting Championships last night in Nashville, Tennessee.  With 9 fighters from Nashville MMA, and 4 guys from Camp Springs, we only had 2 losses and some great finishes!  The event was completely sold out!

Dj Jackson, brazilian jiu-jitsu blue belt won the 7th victory of the night due to tapout from strikes!  JC Cuffee wins his fight by unanimous decision and boy was it a battle!  He hurt his shoulder in the first round, broke some fingers, and walked out of that cage a Champion!  Ron Stallings,  won by KO in the 2nd round.  During Ron’s first round, his opponent was in his guard and was landing huge ground and pound strikes.  Luckily, nothing too much that would jeopardize his fight.  During the second round, his opponent was gassed and Ron wasn’t letting up!  He hung in there and landed 2 kicks to the body of his opponent, then Ron punished him until the referee had to stop the fight!

Hard Work Will Always Beat Talent

Congrats to all of the MMA guys, and I can’t wait to see what’s next.

We are already at the end of February, and the next Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Tournament is on March 6th, it’s the Houston International Open.  Over the next 4 months, there will a be a major BJJ tournament at the beginning of every month!  Before you know it, Worlds will be here, and I can’t wait.  Team Lloyd Irvin has the potential to get several guys on that 1st place spot on the stand, and it will happen!  But keep in mind that the only way it can happen is by training hard and dieting correctly.

Well today is my 22nd Birthday and I am getting ready to do a little celebrating.  (Not too much with the Pan Ams and some good training coming up).  It’s been an exciting week so far in Camp Springs with 4 of our guys making some final preparations for the Gameness MMA fights in Tennessee on Saturday.  I can honestly say that I can’t imagine anyone training harder or preparing better both mentally and physically then we do.  Good luck to all of those guys.

Today has also been a great day to reflect because I have now officially been in Maryland for a year.   Training with Team Lloyd Irvin has made a world of difference in my entire life, not just my Jiu-jitsu.  I can’t even imagine how it would be any other way.  I know that I always talk about this (if you have read any of my other posts you already know), but I can’t tell you how great and positive my experiences have been over the last 12 months in just one post.  Master Lloyd Irvin has built this wonderful machine called Team Lloyd Irvin and I am just glad to be able to reap the benefits.  Before joining this team, I was a typical jiu-jitsu practitioner.  A hobbyist.  Some say I was talented, but who isn’t?  I didn’t care, I loved to compete, loved to win, hated to lose but had absolutely NO IDEA how to set real goals much less accomplish them.  Now 12 months later, I know exactly what I want.  With the help of my coaches I have a specific gameplan to attack, breakdown and achieve everything I want.  It’s crazy because everyone on the team is working on the same things.  Master Lloyd makes it a requirement.  Whether you wanna be a World Champ or just lose few pounds, it doesn’t matter, Team Lloyd Irvin helps to lay this out for you.  I don’t know about everyone else, but I have already started applying this stuff to other aspects of my life as well.  Well, time to go celebrate and plan for another great year.

Tomorrow the guys are leaving to Tennessee for the Gameness Fighting Championships!  On the card we have Ron Stallings, Timothy Woods, JC Cuffee, and DJ Jackson, fighting out of Camp Springs Maryland.  Make sure to give them your support, go Team Lloyd Irvin!!
