Just got back from Copa Nova out in Virginia and I am tired!  I just did my 40 push ups and I struggled through the last 5 of them!  Haha, although I am beginning to feel a bit stronger ;) .

Team Lloyd Irvin swept the tournament clean!  The kids did phenomenal as always and so did the adults.  DJ Jackson won his division and the absolute, and I won my no gi division.  Team Lloyd Irvin also closed out the Pro Division in Philly today!  Mike Fowler, JT Torres, and Wilson Reis won the prize money of $1,000.  What a great way to start out the New Year!!  Mike Fowler went up against Josh and won 19-2, and Wilson also won by points.  JT Torres beat JoJo by a triangle.

When I first got to the tournament today, I was a little disappointed.  There are never any girls to compete against, always just a rack of white belts.  In my division, there was only one girl from our gym and myself, gi an no gi.  Master Lloyd was going to enter me in the mens division and that kinda freaked me out.  Then with my back and everything, we decided it would probably be best to stay away from that division.  So, I bumped up a weight class and fought this other girl in No Gi.  It was a good fight and I caught her in an armbar.  Hopefully next time there will be more girls at that tournament.  Even with only one match, I always get super nervous, just like I did today!  Until I step on the mat, then everything is fine.

JT Torres will be heading down from New Jersey to train.  I look forward to rolling with him and doing some interviews.  I also look forward to learning some new techniques from him!  He is bringing a friend along from Florida, and he will also be a great training partner as well.  Until then, I will be adding some more things to my list of goals for 2010 and keep on BJJ training.  I don’t think the list can ever stop growing, I make mistakes daily like everyone else, and I have a lot of stuff I need to work on.

As for our MMA guys at Team Lloyd Irvin Camp Springs, they have been training hard and doing their 6 am workouts!  They fight on Feb. 20 and it’s gonna be a great show!
