Well, it’s actually day 4 of no training, that’s if you include Sunday! That was the day after the tournament and I spent the whole day flying. This morning I am feeling a little bit better. Tomorrow I will be on the mat training Brazilian jiu jitsu for sure and I can’t wait!
In September I started to train no gi. Personally, I disliked it. The sweat, and hairs, Yuck! I only enjoyed training in the gi! It ended up working out for the better. I was offered the spot to represent Team Lloyd Irvin in the 5 on 5 for Grapplers Quest. Obviously, it was no gi. We ended up taking first place and won the prize money. It was an awesome feeling and a great experience. WE beat the previous Champions, Team Renzo Gracie. Shortly there after I enjoyed training no gi. I wanted to compete in No Gi Pan Ams, and Worlds. I had hopes to win those tournaments. I trained for Pans AMs and took first place. I was pumped. I won my first 2 matches by points and for my final match, I took my opponents back and choked her.
On Oct. 24th I flew to California. I was going to be out there for the next 2 weeks, up until No Gi Worlds. While I was out there, I was training with Kerry Vera. It was yet another great experience! I was more nervous than ever. I always get nervous, for every tournament!! I weighed in and was getting my mind right for my first match. As soon as I shook hands with the girl, I knew it was showtime. Everything I had learned and had been practicing was about to tested. I finished her with a triangle. I was feeling great! My second match rolled around and I was winning by 2 points. I ended up getting caught in an arm lock, putting me out of the tournament. I was so disappointed and discouraged, due to the fact that I made a mistake. I got frustrated and panicked which led to getting arm locked. I didn’t stick to my game plan and I payed for it. This is why you must stick to your game plan and drill, drill, drill.
